Reginald's Story
After high school I continued my path in masonry construction completing engineering and architectural drawing classes at Shelton State Community College. During the first week of class God placed in my presence a beautiful young lady who would become the love of my life. At the end of the semester we exchanged numbers, dated and committed our love for life to each other on February 14, 1982. Thirty three years of marriage have showered us with a 32 year old daughter a son in law and 2 granddaughters, a 27 year old son a daughter in law and 2 grandsons and a daughter who is 18 years tracking to be an Occupational Therapist.
My 33 year career in the commercial masonry business has given me the opportunity to participate in the construction of projects in Tennessee, Florida and Alabama. Some of the projects in my portfolio are: Birmingham Civil Rights Museum, St. Vincent Hospital POP, First Baptist Decatur Family Life Addition, Birmingham Airport Expansion, Negro League Museum, Chimes ...Expand for more
Condominiums, apartments, schools, fire stations and banks.
In 1996 I ran for the District 4 County Commission seat and was elected and sworn in November of that same year. I will be receiving my 20 year Certificate of Service next year. Throughout my tenure I have worked to improve the quality of life for the residents of Tuscaloosa County by providing safe drinking water, building parks, paving a number of gravel roads and implementing a countywide road signage project. My biggest accomplishment was the planning, construction and opening of the Sipsey Valley High School in the southwest area of District 4. Currently I am seeking acreage to construct a recreational facility and a huge water park.
In 1998 after completing the course of studies I was ordained an Elder and have been the pastor of my home church for the past 17 years. I have performed a number of baptisms, weddings and funerals. Prior to marriage my wife and I engage each couple in an extensive marriage counseling.
