Rene''s Story
After graduating from High School I went and spent the summer in San Diego before moving up the coast towards San Francisco. I then stayed a few months in Merced, California and worked there a while before returning to Georgia.
I settled in with the Georgia Department of Public Safety typing driver's license in 1977. I married a class-mate, Steve Sutton, and we had a beautiful baby girl, Stephi, in January of 1983. Unfortunately, our marriage ended in divorce in 1986. Fortunately, Steve and I remained friends and he remarried and has 2 children besides our daughter.
I went throught the police academy and became a Special Agent. I remarried in 1987 and had another daughter, Brittany, in 1989. I was married until 2007 to husband #2!
I actually feel very fortunate to even be alive after some of the things I did in high school. Wednesday nights, penny a beer, nickel a pitcher "Drink and Drown" at the Mad Hatter - Underground. Uncle Tom's Tavern on the week-ends. Loved the Disco dancing! t cut the grass on the side of the interstate. Wow, that was some real high dreams! Thankfully things worked out and I have a much better job!
I am currently a Detective with Henry County Police Department, Special Victim's Unit. I've worked Homicide, Crimes against Children and Crimes against Persons my entire career. I can now retire but plan to work for a few more years. One of the Judges and also an excellent attorney, is a fellow classmate, Greg Futch!
At present time I have five adorable grandkids, four boys and 1 girl. My oldest daughter Stephi and her husband have 3 boys, 13, 12, and 4. She is a dental hygienist in McDonough. Brittany, my younger daughter wasn't quiet as enthusiastic about school but she GRADUATED!. She and her husband have a 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son. And oh yeah, she's the one that my mother wished on me!!! I hope that is all over and done now but she gave me a few rough years!!!
My precious sister Rhonda Bailey Tackett died on January 19, 2013 after having a severe allergic reaction to medication. Very devastating and unexpected. I have not remarried and just enjoy traveling and visting my sister Pam in Florida. All in all, life has been good to me and my family, and GOD has kept us safe all these years and I'm very thankful.
