Renee Denton:  

I found my passion in writing and in literature while attending UT at Martin where I got my BA. I now have a MA in Textual Studies (American Literature), a graduate certificate in African American Literature, and a MFA in Creative Writing. I also have earned my PhD in Literary and Cultural Studies from the University of Memphis, where I taught African American Literature, Literature, Children's Literature,and Freshman Composition. I am now a professor at East Georgia State College. I love teaching because I love people. I find great satisfaction in helping students succeed. I especially target those who have had bad writing and literary experiences in high school. I try to rebuild their confidence so that they can reach their full potential.
