Rex's Story
The end of August, 2015 so I thought I would drop a note. Life is getting hectic. Marcia is doing better and so is RER Publishing, thanks to the 4th Street Monster Squad and the ad campaigns.
Just when you think you have life beat you find yourself on a difficult path in life. I lost Marcia on Nov 7th at Sunrise Hospital after being in critical care for twenty one days. I knew the end was near but refused to give up. That might have been the biggest mistake in my life but after $241000 in hospital charges....I tried. The bill has been paid thanks to our novels. I picked up her ashes on Thanksgiving Day and that will never be normal holiday for me for what life I have left. I miss her. So....now I plow ahead in life. My visions have returned so tonight I worked on her last novel which she had almost completed. Tough to do through the water in my eyes. I loved you Marcia and still do.
Update - May, 2017. Life goes on. My recent novel, A.I. and Life, reached number 23 this month, dragging in the prequel the Las Vegas Worm Club and nine other novels. Vegas is not a bad city to live in if you are on old guy still with a lot of hair and some best sellers on the hip. My first solo effort Happy Ebola Day is still selling strong. Now RER Publishing is entering ad campaigns for the first time which is kind of scary for someone from Oviedo High School. A.I. and Life is also up for story of the year in the United Kingdom , which surprised me.
A short tale I submitted to the Las Vegas Writers Group was included in their annual Silver State Anthology Series. It took me ten minutes to win that. The priize? Two free copies. Lol. The UK contest is more interesting. The prize for 1st place? ...Expand for more
20,000...pounds.
Update--Wow. The last time I wrote on this site was May, 2017. Time flies by when you get older. The most difficult aspect of getting older is losing friends you have known since being a kid. Now I know what my parents went thru after I got out of UCF. RER Publishing is thriving around the world. Marsh and I now have 84 novels on Amazon and that list will get larger. I get fan mail from Japan, Nepal, India, Germany, South America.....from every country in the world except China.. If you think you are a writer I have one suggestion. Create your own publishing company.
Since Marcia died and after a three month bender that would make the Hall of Fame for Drunks in Las Vegas....I went back to work. Been nominated for so many awards I don't keep track anymore and don't care but I know Rosebud must be smiling wherever she may be. I was paying attention in her class. A museum for writers is under construction in Arizona and they asked if they could get permission to feature Marcia and I for one of their exhibits....21st Century Writers. Pretty heady stuff and they know we have 84 novels as of June, 2021. They claim they have the space and should be done with the building by this September so I may go to the dedication. A studio city is also being built to make movies of which they have purchased the rights to two of our novels. Finding out that the business law degree I earned at UCF was woefully deficient but at least I am learning. I find it odd that of all the people who went to Oviedo High I am the only one, so far, who lives in the greatest city in the world even though today it is 116 degrees today. At least I don't have to worry about skeeters and fleas.
