Rhea's Story
Life
It all started when>>>How Boring!!!!!
In 1967 I married Joseph Amorose and divorced him in 1983.I did not remarry but I did have a significant other who died of a massive heart attack in April 2007.I have three daughters and three grandsons.
I attended SUCP and graduated in 3 1/2 years with a degree in English Lit.I moved back to Canada and received a BA in Education at the Ontario College of Education. In 1979 I moved back to the US and attended Teacher's College, Columbia University where I earned a MA in Learning Disabilites and a Doctorate in Neuropsychology. I then wenat back to school one more time and earned a MA in School Psychology.
I taught English (grades 9-13) all over Ontario. First at Sir John A MacDonald in Toronto. On to Cochrane Ontario where I worked with Native Americans.Down to living on a farm in Haliburton Ontairo where I taught slow learners at the high school and then opened a private practice working with LD students in group homes.
When I returned to the US I opened another private practice focused on remediating and evaluating LD students. Then I worked for a private school for eight years. I am now semiretired but am continuing to remediate and evaluate students privately.
My interests include:fishing, camping, boating, reading, music (Yes, I still play the piano and I listen to everything from country to classic but not RAP ),working out, theatre, movies (new and old),fine food and flirting (some things never change). I used to go out with my significant other on his Harley and I loved the freedom and speed and am looking forward to going out again.
My personality has not changed all that much. I still don't like authority figures hence the private practice.
I don't like staying in one place too long, I've made over eight moves in my adult life. I plan on going to Scotland (to find my father's famly) sometime in 2008 and am willing to travel just about anywhere in the world (which is why I took early retirement).I enjoy new experiences and new adventures. I have a list of thi...Expand for more
ngs to do before I get too old to enjoy adventures.
I am still petite and wear the same size I did in high school. My hair is streaked blonde because I wanted to see if blonds have more fun (yes, they do).I work out five mornings a week to stay in shape and eat a mainly healthy food but that doesn't mean I don't cheat at times. I quite smoking ten years ago and I don't drink alcohol (I need all the brain cells I have).
That's it folks ...........Updated information........
Summer and time to travel but I'm not planning any more car trips this summer. Let me tell you, it is a long drive (for one person) from New Jersey to New Brunswick Canada,But I wanted to see some of the county and I can assure you there are lots of trees (and tasty lobsters) in Maine. While camping I also rediscovered the joys of battling flying nasties such as black flies. In September I'm off a long awaited and much anticipated trip to Scotland with my youngest daughter. I hope I can find my father's family. Enjoy the summer. Rhea
I'm falling behind in keeping up the narrative, Two summers ago I made it to Scotland and spend a few adventurous days exploring the Highlands I found numerous people with the Wood name but it appears that there are no longer any members of my father's family living in Scotland. Then,.last summer, I did an extended tour of the British Isles. I finally had the opportunity to attend the Military Tattoo in Edinburgh and sang God Save the Queen probably for the last time. For those who don't remember, I moved to the States from Canada in 1953 (Canada was still a Dominion of England at the time). My favorite country, of course, was Wales. By the way, the name Rhea is Welsh. This summer I'm only going as far as making to trip to Ontario as my youngest daughter is expecting (at last a girl) the beginning of July. Next year... if I'm in shape to travel, I'd like to spend a month or so in London. But, the bird of youth not only took wing but took off for me a while ago. But, we'll see what the future holds.
