Rhonda's Story

Life Hi Everybody, 1968 seems like such a long time ago. So much has happened in almost 40 years! After graduation I went to Delta College and then graduated from California State University at Sacramento. I got married in 1970 to Tim Rogers and lived aboard a sailboat for 16+ years. I worked from 1972 to 1978 for a company in Mill Valley that builds speech therapy aids and fm wireless systems for the hearing impaired. During the sailboat phase, we traveled for 4 1/2 years from San Franciso south to Mexico, Central America, traversed the Panama Canal and ventured up the Eastern Seaboard via the Intracoastal Waterway. My wonderful red haired son was born along the way in Fort Lauderdale in 1981. After returning to California in 1983, we continued to live aboard until our son, Chris was almost 5 and ready to go to kindergarten. We bought our first house in Corte Madera, Marin County in 1987 and started a marine electronics business. We bought a house on 5 acres in Valley Springs just east of Lodi in 1992. I bought two horses, and Chris and I went riding frequently. We continued running our marine electronics business and I also took a job as a rural letter carrier with the post office. At this point, we had two horses, 1 dog, 1 iguana, 4 doves, 1 green vine snake, 1 box turtle, 2 miniature rabbits ( which soon multiplied to 7), 1 cat (that came with the house), and various visiting wildlife from toads to garter snakes to injured baby birds awaiting cure. In 1997 we, closed our marine business and moved to Lincoln, CA where Tim was hired by a computer manufacturing company. We bought a place in the country just outside of Lincoln on 10 acres. I took a job as bookkeeper working fo...Expand for more
r Weatherly Aviation at the Lincoln Airport. Weatherly built crop duster airplanes. The owner, Hal Weatherly, also had another business, American Polytherm, that was a contract manufacturer that had several government contracts. We had always wanted to build a house, so we bought 5 raw acres farther east toward the foothills, and built a log cabin in a wonderful setting with large oak trees, and a year round creek on a road to nowhere. In 2000, I started working as an office manager at a construction company that does drilling and blasting of rock. In 2001, the construction company was sold, but I stayed on, and moved to Newcastle. At this July 2015 writing, I am still working there. It was actually a little closer drive at the new location. In January 2004, I struck out on my own and moved to Auburn. I bought a little house built in 1940 which needed a lot of work, but having built my own house from scratch, I had no qualms about tackling this fix up project. Tim remarried in 2005, and moved to San Rafael and started an avionics business at the Petaluma airport. We have remained friends and still talk often. Now my work commute is only 6 minutes. I have lots of music friends and go dancing every week. It seems I have every day filled with something good. I started a band 6 years ago called Brazen Hussies & the Bad Boyz which is LOTS of fund. Chris is a card dealer at the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln. He has just gotten his personal trainer certification and has a business. So....this has been my life so far. No special man in my life at this point, just a lot of friends. I am optimistic about the future, enjoying the present, and valuing the past. How are all of you??
