Rhonda's Story
Life
I have 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls, and 2 of them are in their 20's and 2 of them are teenagers. I have 2 grandbabies, one boy and one girl. I have been to Lima, Peru....England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. I have 2 years in college, one year for Computer Sciences and one year for Accounting.
I think I have been to every state in the USA except for Georgia and Louisiana. I have developed somewhat of a personality and a sense of humor. (That was to create laughs.)
Other than that....I guess I can honestly say that I am very happy with my life right now. Life is good.
School
My biggest crush was in the 7th grade, his name was Robert Anderson. Whenever he came into the classroom, my tongue got tied, and my tummy felt like jello and butterflies.
The teacher who inspired me the most was a special lady named Ms. Keating. I never had the chance to tell her what a difference she made in my life. You see I heard from my Mom that Ms. Keating passed away several years ago, and I have been crying over that ever since. Ms. Keating was the first of two teachers who believed in me enough to know that I had great potential to do whatever I set my mind to, and she challenged me in the sweetest way possible to reach farther than i ever thought i could in learning and in life. She also inspired me because she wasn't only willing to teach her students, but she was willing to learn from them as well and see the world through the eyes of her children. God bless you Ms. Keating!!!!
Up until 5th grade, I loved to go to school. My love for learning never stopped, but my faith in the school system did.
I had two crowning moments in my younger days. Once was in elementary school, I made the Spelling Bee all the way up to the State Finals, and I was one of the last two people standing. (I don't mind coming in at second place, it was just knowing that I made it that far.) The second crowning moment was my freshman year in high school. I sang "You Light Up My Life" in a solo on a stage in front of a full auditorium. By the time i was done, someone in the auditorium had di...Expand for more
mmed the lights and there were many lighters burning for me while I sang. Then when it was all done and over with, I walked back out onto the stage and got a standing ovation. Those were the two greatest moments in school.
The craziest moment of my life, and I still remember it as if it was yesterday, was at the eighth grade party in the auditorium right before graduation. I stood on the sidelines watching everyone else being asked to dance in the auditorium. I felt alone but it didn't last long. I really didn't care that anyone was watching either, all I know was that I wanted to dance, and i did. I danced until the party was over, all by myself out there in a crowded auditorium. it felt so good to just be me and dance.
Funny how memories from 25 years ago can bring such a sweet relief to the hardship that we face today, huh?
I still dance, and I still sing my heart out.
If I had to do it all over again, I would, yes i would. I would just wish for a different life at home than the one I had going on at the time, because then I could truly enjoy what i loved doing the most....learning. I still have the eagerness to be taught and to learn new things. Also, because of my eagerness to learn, I have learned something that I have been doing since i was 16 and it is something i had an introduction in school but never fully learned in school, and that is....
I speak read and write fluently in Spanish. I understand Polish, Greek, and Italian. I am very good at sign language. My love for learning will never end because of what I had learned in school and from the people who influenced me.
Military
The only military experience I have is that I was in the ROTC in my freshman year at Lane Tech.
Although I never achieved making it in the military, I support our troops both inside our homeland and overseas. God Bless All Of You!!!!
I also want to add that there were many of my peers who, in some way or another have touched my life. Whether in a good way or a bad way, doesn't matter, what matters is that you were part of my life and i thank you for being in my life.
