Rhonda's Story
Hey everyone visiting this site. As you all know our 20 year reunion is coming up. Go to Goddardrockets.com to see about it. The last 20 years have gone by very quickly for me. I have been all over the place! I was an exchange student in Belgium right after highschool. I then went to UNM and studied French. I spent a year at the University of New Hampshire, where I discovered the study of linguistics. I trasferred back to NMSU when the cost of the east coast became too great and decided to study linguistics in the real world of people actually learning languagages, bilingual elementary education. I spent quite a bit of time in Sonora, Mexico teaching in a rural school. Then I went to Costa Rica to do my student teaching and taught there for a few years in a public then a private school. ry interesting. I met my husband Marc, at my little sister's graduation party and fell in love at first sight. I stayed home for several years nursing babies, we have a little girl Maya (9) and a boy Luca (6). I am now teaching 3rd grade two-way dual language immersion in Bernalillo, NM. It is a wonderful job, more of a calling, and my daughter is currently in my class. My son will follow in two years. I just completed my National Board Certification in Bilingual Education and am working on a Charter School Application for a dual language school age 4-middle school. If we are accepted, it will open in 2 years in the South Valley of Albuquerque. My husband works for T Mobile managing their internal web sites and loves his job. We have 3 dogs, 2 turtles, a gerbil, and a bunch of fish. Life is very good, and I hope to see as many of you as possible at the reunion! God Bless You!
