Ricardo's Story

Life Well everyone, it's been a long time and alot of water underneath this Keel. I retired from the USN back in 1991 as a Master Cheif GunnersMate. The Navy was fun and extremely exciting. I made Naval History by being the 1st Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist on a Naval Comabatant. I also did time in Naval Special Warfare. After retirement I went to Saudi Arabia as a Senior Consultant to the RSNF in Jeddah. I spent everyday in the Red Sea Diving and doing alot of photography for National Geographic. After that Gig I returned to Atlanta, GA taught High School for a while, then moved to New Mexico. While in New Mexico, I taught at The University of New Mexico. I received my Masters in Education through San Diego State. I am an Electrical Contractor in Arizona and New Mexico. I am preparing to get my Contractors permit in California shortly. In 2005 I was in the TNT Movie Into the West, The Far Side of Jericho, ABC Family Channel Wild Fire, History Channel Jeddidiah Smith and North Country with Charleaze Theron. My latest release is the Far Side of Jericho due to be released in August and Commanche Moon should be out shortly. I moved to Las Vegas for a year and while there I worked on 4 Episodes of CSI and two Episodes of Deadwood. I have done seveal otherminor ovies during the past year. But, my full time work is still Fire and Security. Military Well as I said I did 23 yeas in the Navy. I had a rough start at first, but nearing the...Expand for more
end of my first tour of duty, I realized I liked what I was doing. I did a tour of duty on the USS Enterprise right out of Gunners Mate A School. I had Special Weapons Training on very special types of weapons and went into EOD for a while. Around 1972 I was transfered to Waikele, Naval Magazine in Hawaii where I worked Special Weapons Explosive Ordnance Disposal. I met my wife of 25 years there, We Divorced in 1999 and a month later I married my current wife Wendi Burke. I served all over the world and became a linquist in the intel community, I speak Arabic, Russian, and Japanese. I dable in a few other languages. My ships included USS Enterprise, USS Jouett, USS Spruance, and the USS Alamo. My shore assigments included, a ton of Naval Training Facilities, Naval Amphibious Base Coronado (BUD/S) and the International Surface Warfare Officer School where I developed warefare lessons for third world officers. I was the Senior Surface Combat Specialist at the Mobile Technical Unit 5 in Yokosuka Japan from 1986 through 1989. My last tour of duty was at the Naval Exam Center in Pensacola Florida where I decided to retire after making Master Chief (E-9). Like I said I had a rough beginning, but after I decided to settle down I advanced quickly. I was an E-7 with just over 10 years service, E-8 with 14 years and E-9 at 20. Navy ranks go from E-1 through E-9. Most people remember me as a screw up and clown. Remember Speedy McRabbit in Lil Abner?
