Rich Bend:

CLASS OF 1983
St. clair, MI

Rich's Story

Life I was born. Spent my early years learning guilt, fear of hell and cranky women. Graduated in June of 83' as you all know. I moved to Yuma Arizona in August of that year and took a job working for YPG Yuma Proving Grounds testing weapons for the army....as a civilian. Spent several years desert living where I learned a healthy respect for cactus and rattle snakes...didn't learn much about women though. However, I did learn that dating older women was far more interesting and far less stressful than dating 'girls' my own age. Cougars may bite....but they do it right. Navy Vet of 6 years, 688 Class SSN 689 attack submarine qualified then became a corpsman. Served on the USNS Mercy during the Gulf War, the first one, in Casualty Receiving training to take mass casualties. Spent my last year in the service on Diego Garcia learning to sail, fish and not get eaten by sharks. Currently practicing Chiropractic in Monterey California. I am now married with three kids, a dog and two cats. My oldest son Mitchell is stationed in Astoria Oregon on the Coast Guard Cutter 'Alert'. Currently practicing Chiropractic in Monterey California. Central Coast living has been an interesting experience. Wild fires are about as common here as thunderstorms are back home. fires actually are still burning because they are in such remote and inaccessible locations that the forestry service cannot do anything but let them burn. Once in a while the smoke reaches us here in Monterey. Ash gets everywhere. Since moving here I've taken to restoring a 1967 Jeepster Commando that I acquired in San Jose. So far it is 80% complete. I plan to enter it into Cherries Jubilee next year, it will be the only fully restored and functional Jeepster Commando in Monterey County. Update..Broke first gear of my Transmission. Back in the garage for repair. Update 2015: Currently a volunteer for the Concourse D' elegance car show at Pebble Beach. Currently living less than a mile from Pebble Beach California. I still suck at golf. Moving my practice in with another chiropractor here in Monterey to create a group practice and expand our coverage of Monterey County. More Recently I have finished writing a book, the working title is 'The Odessa Legacy' which is the working title and subject to change pending a title discovery session in which the title is no longer usable or a better one presents. Check out my facebook page to see the description of the book. This is my first effort with a second in the offing if this book does well. Tootles... ... Rich
