Rich's Story

Update 2-11-2010 Sigh, the big 55th birthday is on the 27th (Feb), and I'm working on an online class to become a Six Sigma Black Belt, about 1/2 finished so far. It's like combining common sense with scientific methods to solve problems. I have been looking into Google's WAVE program and finding ways to use it when I get my next job (currently unemployed, but some nibbles are starting to look serious). The part of that hooked me was the near instantaneous translation of Japanese to English text. The world really is becoming One Place... Lately I've also tried substutite teaching at the local grade schools. The next time anyone tells me that, "Teachers have it made... blah blah blah," i'll be the first one to tell them to go try it, walk your talk, then come back and try saying the same opinion. My last, uh, teaching experience gave me a headache that took 2 days to get rid of. I think that my new saying about teaching is, "No pain, no brain!" End-of-update for now. Life [Last updated: June 2005] actually made something of myself. i used to think school was the biggest waste of time. took ~20 years to get 'round to changing my mind. developed a Truly Varped Cents of humor [yeah, spelled *just like that*]. of course, i'm the only engineer [Process, Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D engineer to be specific*] most people know that should've been a stand-up comedian. *can you say schizophrenic engineer? honestly, i didn't technically graduate from SW HS, but i always tell people i went there [for 3 years] because of the great people i STILL remember that went there at the same time as i was there. There were so many of really ...Expand for more
Memorable Gals n Guys. School [updated 11-23-05] hmmm, biggest crush. wow, there were so many, but being the outwardly shy and reticent type, i usually went to great pains to NOT let any nice high school classmate-gal know. usually any that suspected i liked them didn't stay around me too long [i guess i was a little geekie before is was popular. haha. ok, i was a-Lot geekie ;p ]. I've finally found a little understanding of my potentials [plural on Purpose]. i understand that i make a difference. and i chose to make a positive difference, in the lives of people i interact with**. it's so enjoyable to do something as simple, yet profound, as making someone smile or laugh when the choice was Mine to make to interact with them and make their day better. sounds simplistic. but alot of life is all about being a better person than you think you can. we are mold-able, and some people can metamorphasize into jewels. i was molded wrong as a kid, but the baggage is gone and the chysalis is on-going. **watch the movie "Pay It Forward"... College [updated 11-23-2006] grad univ of purdue engr technology [BS] in 2002. 5 days later started in pre-mba classes. 1 year later i made the univ dean's list for academic excellence. Just accepted into the Purdue Master's Engineering Technology Program, and starting classes in January 2006. Workplace varied. if you really want to *know about the gory details* that much, i'll have to get out my conspiracy theories t-shirt and garlic and holy water and wooden stake and well, you get the picture. motto: what's the meaning of life? . . . . . . have fun and then you die. rb2 Military nope
