Richard's Story
Life
Married to Debra Atkins of Cheyenne, Wyoming. We have 5 children, 9 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 30 year U.S. Air Force career from 1960 to 1990. Enlisted member 16 years and commissioned officer 14 years. Was in college education from 1991-2002. Retired as EVP and Director of the Denver, Colorado Campus of National American University in May 2002 after turning 60. Graduate of Excelsior College 1974, AA; The Ohio State University 1976, BSBA; and University of Wyoming 1979, MBA. Retired to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 2003 and to Casa Grande, AZ in 2017.
Military
Enlisted in the USAF in July 1960. Trained as a Radar Maintentance Technician at Keesler AFB...Expand for more
, MS until Aug 61. Served in that field in Germany, Texas, North Dakota and back to Texas. Retrained into Special Electronics in Colorado in 67/68. Served in Alaska in that field until 69. Back to Radar Maint. in New York until 74. Selected for an education and commissioning program and attended The Ohio State University until graduating in 76. Finished OTS and became a Minuteman Missile Officer and later Staff Missile Officer in Wyoming through 1981. Served a tour teaching ROTC at South Dakoto State University until mid 1985. Moved to Rapid City, SD where I finished my military career after 30 years in 1990. I retired as a Major with 29 years, 11 months and 11 days service.
