Richard's Story
Life
1958 BHS grad. Went on to become a Catholic monk. Didn't work. Did lots and lots of stuff for many years: church secretary, librarian, janitor. Lived in NY long time then flew to San Francisco 30+ yrs. ago to escape bad NY sex & drug scene. Met my partner Jerry 28 yrs ago. Been together ever since & registered as domestic partners in CA. p; couldn't stand hosp setting. Worked with spinal cord & head injuries, the elderly, then w/ AIDS and cancer patients. Now with my partner in his law practice as HIV Services Coordinator & doer of all things no one else wants to do. Became a Lutheran about 8 yrs ago and am active in sacramental/worship life of my parish. Fond memories of BHS - esp. teachers Ruth Lafferty, Richard Kerr, Esther Hawkins; opera trips, choir; and the dreaded Muriel Benoy who taught Junior English.
