Our daughter Cynthia and her husband Kristopher have given us a granddaughter. She is the apple of her grandparents eye. I enjoy being a granddad even though it wears me out trying to keep up with her. 12,December,2009 we now have a grandson Intabre. Our Family tree turned up some pleasant surprises. My great grandmother Thompson (North) was the oldest daughter of Countess Erma North of Marlmoor, Scotland. My great great grandmother was born 1817 and lived to be 100 years old. We know she was a victorian autocrat in every sense of the word. My great grandmother became countess in 1917 upon the death of her mother however she never returned to the UK as she was by that time a grandmother herself. When my mother turned 16 great grandmother gave my mother the title as she was the oldest granddaughter. My mother in turn passed the title onto her only granddaughter, our daughter Cynthia when she turned 16. Cy...Expand for more
nthia while studing at WMU made several friends in International Studies and traveled abroad several times including several trips to the UK. One of her best friends was a lady in waiting to Queen Elizabeth II. Her friend instantly recognized the nobility pin that my Great Grandmother had brought over from Scotland, passed onto mom and now is in my daughter's possesion. This pin unlocked the Royal Archives and we were able to really work on our family trees. Cynthia is now recognized as the latest Countess, our estate in Scotland is back in the family 1,367 years to date 2009. We continue to find many ancestors of royal linage. James I of Scotland, James VI of Scotland and Later James I of England, Princess Elizabeth daughter of the ill fated Charles I. Kings Malcolm I thru VI of Scotland, Mary Queen of Scots, and Henry VII. We have our villians also, the real MacBeth, and Richard III. Too complete the story I am now a seated Lord. This means the title will be passed onto my grandson Intabre. We have been very blessed and are using our estate to advance the history of the border area of Scotland and England. Also we have decided to make the estate a private wildlife preserve. There are many other ongoing activities as well. I would like to learn fly fishing and have the perfect place to learn it in Scotland. I have had a lifelong interest in archeitecture and restoration and have a big project to work on also. I have always been facinated with archeology. Oxford University has an ongoing "dig" in the summer at the ruins of our family castle. Interesting tidbits such as the original castle gate structure with some cleaning grease and oil would work. It is not connected to anything but it is capable of working. The most interesting structure is the original Keep that dates to the 7th century with it's 4 foot thick walls. As my daughter tells me we have a lot of work to do. Late Fall 2009 we Traveled to the EU and cruised the Rhine and Mosel rivers. This was a wonderful trip visiting the Christmas Markets along the way. This was from 30, November 2009 through 8, December 2009. The last three days were spent in Paris. I have never seen Paris at Christmas time, the lighting is wonderful to see. When we returned our grandson was born the 12th. Making 2009 a Christmas to remember. Moved to Paw Paw Twp. December 10, 2011. Bought a very nice ranch type house that needs a lot of TLC. We have the TLC underway and the house will be improved little by little over the next couple of years.
