Richard's Story
Hey everyone. Wow, it seems like an eternity but just like yesterday that I packed up my bags and moved to the "Great Garden State". Not really, but how else can you describe the last 20+ years in a sentence or two? Seriously, life has been good and I've been blessed with a pretty good life.
After spending two years in the UK while serving in the US Air Force, I came back to Williamsport to find that it was still home, but no jobs. I ended up in New Jersey and that's pretty much the "rest of the story". I worked a few jobs here and am working at one of the nation's best employers (well, I think they're pretty good, 20 years and never had to worry about getting paid). Lucky for me, I was in the right place at the right time. Fiber optics was just hitting it's stride and I was involved in upgrading over 10,000 miles of cable plant in the Philly Metro/New Jersey region. n I thought it would be.
Family is great, those of you who were at the reunion have met my wife. Married for nearly 20 years and I can honestly say its been the best 5 years of my life. Seriously, we've had some ups and downs, but who hasn't? We have two beautiful, smart and active kids that keep me hopping. I can't believe that my son is getting ready to head off to college this year and my daughter will heading to high school all too soon. Both kids are extremely athletic and have a fire inside of them that makes it fun to watch them (not to mention coach them) when they play.
I still keep in touch with family and enjoy coming back to Williamsport to visit. Seeing the Susquehanna Valley coming down the moutain on Rt. 15 is still something that makes me smile everytime I'm lucky enough to make my way there.
Well, I'm sure it's not the end of the story, but enough for now. I hope you are well as you check this out and that life has been fortunate and you've been given all the blessings possible. Maybe I'll see you sometime in the future.
