4/13/14, I was working in this part of our yard yesterday and there was nothing there. This morning, bam, this 6" beast was showing it gorgeous pale yellow color.
These guys were tiny, the biggest one had a cap about 0.325" wide. They were growing on a creosote coated railroad tie, go figure.
I noticed an big lump in an area which is normally smooth so I pulled back the debris which uncovered this husky fellow. It's cap is 7" wide and the stalk about 2 - 2.5" wide.
This fellow is about 1" tall and has a translucent cap and stem.
As I was cleaning our backyard today when I stumbled upon this . . this door . . . at the base of a tall Ponderosa Pine. I knocked on the door but no one answered. I have to think about this, do I want to charge this creatu

We were in the Bay Area (San Jose) to visit Bobbi’s son and family this Mother’s Day weekend. We had a fun visit and on Sunday on the way home we decided to stop at the SF Zoo to see what was happening. It was nice to see
We have a limited view of the sky because of the forest. I saw no meteors and my camera didn't pick up any either. So . . . I played with the image that I did get and this is the result.
Spotted at the feeder this morning, a Black Headed Grosbeak. there were several fighting over the seed cylinder.
Just finished a totem for our yard. It's 8 feet tall and has a Polynesian flare. Will mount it when we get back from vacation, if my step-daughter doesn't steal it.
