Richard's Story
The picture is of my 17 year old, 6'8" grandson and me. Wesley will be in Parkview class of 2011.
Life
I am now a Professional Land Surveyor in Missouri. I have been working in surveying since 1962, I started in the survey field while I was still in high school. I received my license in 1978. I am presently the Past President of the Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors I was President in 2003. Also, in 2003 I received a BS in Administrative Management from SMSU (I went through on the 40 year plan - I tried five majors before I got one right). In 2004 I retired from City Utilities of Springfield with 25 years service. I also was named "Surveyor of the Year" by the Missouri Society of Professionals Surveyors in 2004.
After a couple of years of retirement I have discovered that in every Surveyor there is a need to survey. Presently I am the Surveyor of Record at Stribling Surveying in Willard, MO.

dren and seven grandchildren. We enjoy traveling, we have a fifth-wheel trailer and use it often. The family has several horses and we also love working with them.
I would love to correspond with some old friends.
Workplace
I have a BS in Adminstrative Management. I began surveying in 1962 while in high school. During my surveying career I have worked as a draftsman, construction inspector, designer, policeman, and equipment operator, but, I have always returned to surveying. I am retired from the position of Supervisor of Mapping and Surveying at City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri. I had been there for 25 years. I was placed on this earth to survey and I am proud of it.
Retirement is nice, but I have discovered that a person needs to be doing something. I am now working part time at Stribling Surveying, LLC as the Surveyor of Record for the company, and I am loving every minute of it.
I always wanted to be a nut when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a nut idea. As it turns out, they were right.
