Richard's Story
Life
Joined the Air Force shortly out of school and spent 20 years all over the world as an aviation weather forecaster. After retirement in 95, I took a position with a Danish company forecasting inside the Arctic Circle. I did take 4 years away from this job from 98-01 to return to school for my Bachelor's Degree in Finance. Recently married and planning to settle in Georgia when I leave Greenland, enjoying a warmer and easier life and playing golf as often as I can.
School
Most knew me as Wally all through school. I was what you might call vertically challenged - a situation that has since been remedied. I spent a couple of class periods hanging in basketball hoops, courtesy of some of the more popular sports figures...but...Expand for more
hey, I wasn't in class! I pretty much had it made in school, though I can't remember doing a lot of studying as I was always out with one of the sports teams keeping track of stats and scores.
College
Graduated from McMurry University, Abilene, Texas in 2001, 27 years after graduating from TNT. Shouldn't have waited until after I retired from the Air Force to start because I thoroughly enjoyed being in a school environment again.
Workplace
Greenland Contractors is actually a Danish company that I work for here in Greenland, 700 miles from the north pole and inside the Arctic Circle. I'm a retired Air Force meteorologist, now doing it as a civilian until Spring 2004, when I'll give it up and head home to Georgia to play golf.
