Richard's Story

Leaving high school early, I headed North to Alaska to spend 2 years working on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline in Valdez, Alaska. From the freezer to the frying pan, I was transferred by my employer overseas. Arriving in Iran the same day as Khomeni's exile was up, my middle adventure was to begin. Watching the fall and demise of Iran's populace, I was destined to take part in the evacuation of Americans and the shut down of technology we had sold to Iran in the world of oil. Then next 10 years was to be spent in the middle east, primarily in Saudi Arabia and yet touching countries of UAE, Yemen, Iraq and Iran. Experiencing people of the desert tribes to Royal Family Members of Kingdoms, life was definitely opening up. Eventually my travels came to an end, returning me to the states where a native can actual experience culture shock after being gone for so long. Enjoying the international experience, I remain employeed in fields that would keep me in touch either with international groups or with travel. settled into the field of tourism where I can use all the experience of my younger day travels. As of today, you can find me driving one of the large tour buses along our highways to many destinations. As I write this note, I am currently finalizing the start of my own company, Travel Affairs International, based in the greater Seattle area. The company will be setting new trends as a high end service company and one often choosen by International groups traveling to the area. In addition to the tours we will be providing, our equipment will be available to families, businesses or any group wishing to charter a motorcoach to reach thier destinations. It has been a long time since high school and amazing how lives have changed and people have blossemed. Through out the time, from time to time, I have run into old friends and classmates. The changes that you see are amazing at times and yet I often think how unprepared we were for the real world and yet here we are today, a part of history, part of the changes and ready for what the future will bring Best wishes to all!
