Richard (Rick)'s Story
Hi, my name is Richard Fisher, more commonly known as Rick Fisher. Prior to 6th grade, I was called Ricky Fisher, I hated that. I lived on Roosevelt Road off of Monroe Pike near the Lugar Creek Riding Stables. My brother is Rob Fisher & my sisters are Pam & Janet Fisher. Some of my neighbors were, Jim & Kim Cline, David Mossberg, Becky & Tom Strahan, David Marks, Tim & Geneva Rice, Rick Bannister, Paula Bryner, Margie Timmons, Glenna & Wes Harmon, Terry Wagoner, Chris & Tony Lemming, Jack & Jim Pulley, Greg Kistler, Autumn Schultz, Tim Blackburn, John King, Skip Herring, Bill Nelson, Allen Houston. My dad & Paul Cline were softball coaches for Pack 86 at Roosevelt Elementary. Some of my teachers at Roosevelt were, Ms. Mary Ferguson, Mrs. Day, Mrs. Herring, & Mr. Stinger. Paula Bryner's grandfather was our bus driver.
I attended Roosevelt Elementary 2nd thru 6th grade, Washington J.H.S. 7th & 8th grades, and M.H.S. 1971-1974. from 7th grade untill graduation, I worked for my Dad at, Tu Your Door Pizza 206 So. Branson Street, next to the old jail and across from Chin's Laundry, Fuller's Body Shop, & Foremans Marathon.
In school and just after graduation I dated Kathy Purtee, Robin Smith, Leslie Sands, Melanie Waggerman, & Jalinda Owens. I married Beverly Denham in 1974. We were together just a short time but we have a wonderfull son, Christopher Fisher who still lives in Marion. In 1979 I married Caryn Adams from Gas City. We divorced in 1998 but have two daughters, Andrea & Cayla & a great step-son, Wesly Adams. They reside in Orlando & Fort Myers, ...Expand for more
Florida.
After graduation I had no idea of what I wanted to do for a living, so I worked everywhere: Essex Wire, Anaconda Wire & Cable, General Tire ( Marion & Wabash), Marion Steel. My friend Jim Cline became a Grant County Reserve Deputy Sheriff & gave me the Law Enforcement bug. I have been a Sheriff's Deputy or Police Officer for the last 29 years. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona 01/01/2000 and have worked as a Phoenix Police Ofc. for the past 12 years.
The marriage thing hasn't worked for me, so I'm single, raising a 15 year old son, "Chap" (named after my Dad). I have a simple but good life. I enjoy my work, I am an aspiring guitar player and have studied spanish for the past 3 years. We attend a great church. I help my son with his Civil Air Patrol and encourage his dream to be an Air Force Officer. We have a beautiful home in Peoria, Arizona. I actually enjoy the daily grind of taking care of my boy, my home, and planning for retirement. I love to exercise (running) and dream about my retirement car ( my first car, a 1967 Mustang fastback).
Life has been quite a winding road although, I wouldn't change a thing. Marion was a great community to grow up in. I remember waxing my pride and joy in Matter Park on Sundays, crusing the by-pass, and Marion Giant Basketball. I miss all of you. You are the tapestry of my life. God bless all of you, hope to hear from you soon,
Respectfully,
Rick Fisher
