Richard's Story
Life
After graduation I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and did a 4 year stint. Upon completion I returned to Brownsville and worked at Brownsville Medical Center while I attended TSC/PAUB. In December of 1984 I took a career with the U.S. Border Patrol which took me to Uvalde, Texas. In 1991 I transfered to Seattle, Washington where I remained until 1994 and then transfered to Hawaii and remained there for 1 year. In 1995, I became a Special Agent with INS in Oklahoma City where I got married and both my boys were born. In 2001 I then transfered to El Paso to assume the position of Supervisory Special Agent overseeing the Joint Terrorism Task Force agents working closely with FBI. osition of the Supervisory Special Agent for Human Trafficking and the National Security Unit. I now work for the Department of Homeland Security still overseeing Human Traffikcing and National Security. After 23 years of government service I am now starting to count the days, months and maybe years before I can call it a career. In November of 2003 I suffered a massive Heart Attack and by the grace of God and prayers of family and friends I made it thru quintuple by-pass surgery and can continue to enjoy life. In January of 2004, we added an addition to the family. We now have a little girl. Kids are growing fast and my career is coming to an end. On December 28, 2012, I retire from Federal Government service after 32 wonderful years.l Life is great.
