Richard's Story
Life
After graduation I worked heavy construction for 23 years as a Boilermaker and am now with the State of Michigan as a Senior Safety Officer in MIOSHA - Const. Safety & Health.
I travel to construction sites doing safety inspections and related work. I have written several articles for publication in safety magazines and give talks on safety at conferences in Michigan.
I've been married almost 29 years and have 1 daughter who just grauated WSU with a Bachelor's Degree in Music.
I am a scrimshaw artist in my free time, carving bone and ivory and using them to create various jewelery that I design & make.
I also do pen & ink drawings and design ...Expand for more
& build ivory inlay music boxes. I have had my works on display at art shows in southeast Michigan.
I do art demonstrations and talks to groups. I particularily enjoy those I do at schools and art fairs where children get to see the work & ask questions.
My wife & I travel around the Great Lakes area to antique shops.
I enjoy working with my hands and recently finished relandscaping my back yard which included designing and building 5 flower beds two decorative brick walks and a patio area.
Reading is another passion and I am currently reading "Demons of the Water" a biographic tale of a whaler in the 1800's who shipped aboard the whaler "Globe".
