Richard's Story
Hola. After leaving MKHS I enrolled at ELAC and before the year was over I was declared 1A for the military. Before being called up Prez Nixon ended the draft, whew! To celebrate my bro ,Lou'72, and I volunteered to coach a baseball team of 10 year old neighborhood hooligans for 2 seasons at Garvey Pk. No one was arrested for this. 1972-73 I was a teacher aide for Mrs Moser at Keppel. How'd that happen? Mr. Wise was the only person to ask me "what you doing here?" Mr Low just laughed at me. Everyone else just thought I was one of the students. By 1974 I was accepted at UCLA. There were at least 4 other Aztecs besides me who also wondered what I was doing there. I knew who the Ramones were. Graduated in '76 I then ended up in Nor Cal working for Sears, A great, fun and weird experience. I eventually weaseled my way back to LA working for GTE/Verizon. Had a daughter and son with Kathy Lujan MKHS77 in the 80's. Donna Allison, SHHS, and I had 2 sons in the 00's. I spent 15 years involved in softball and field trips in West Covina. Also shuttled a Marine to Camp Pendelton for a year. Then 15 more years doing all sports at St Thomas More, Alhambra American LL and Bishop Amat HS. Was still involved with baseball until Covid kiboshed that! I'm a fan of Van Gogh, Dodgers, Lakers, UCLA: 50's Country, 60's Soul,,R&B & Rock; Jazz; Punk & Alt rock and anything quirky. Most of all my grandkids Nicholas and Devan! Ta Dah!
