Richard's Story
Life
After graduating from Englewood, I attended Chicago Teacher's College (now Chicago State University). I moved to Indiana for a short period of time and served as Minister of Music for the Kirby Avenue Church of God and also became involved in law enforcement, joining the Delaware County Sheriff's Office. In 1974, I visited Atlanta, Georgia and fell in love with the area and "a young lady" that was to be my wife for the next 32+years. I joined the Fulton County (Atlanta) Sheriff's Department in 1975. I also began my ministerial career in 1977. I began pastoring in 1979 and have pastored several congregations. In 1984 I ran for the elected position of Sheriff and became the first African American to be elected to...Expand for more
a Sheriff's position in the history of the State of Georgia.
I am retired from law enforcement and politics, but remain in the ministry.
I am presently the presiding Bishop and Overseer for the Atlanta International Christian Praise Center.
My wife and I have three children and eight grandchildren.
I am writing music in my home studio and I am the Preseident of my own independent record label, "Sovereign Records"
I am also the Preseident of the Gospel Division of Crew Records (Crown Life) where William Guest (of Gladys Knight & the Pips) is the CEO.
I have finished and am editing a novel /1200 page manuscript, preparing for publication, hopefully in 2008.
Still singing, and enjoying life as always.
