Rick's Story
Life
I grew up in Melrose Park across the street from Grant Elem. I played hockey year round with my friends, Pete, John, Zeeb, Frankie and the rest of the guys. I have fond memories of the neighborhood and all my neighbors up and down the streets around me. Jr. High at Roosevelt was a OK I guess but most of the people we hung with wound up going to other high schools. Proviso West was fun to me..I mean the hockey team and freshman football team were fun..One season of football and I realized hockey was where I needed to be.Toward the end of sophmore year I went to live with mom in Villa Park so for last month of sophmore and whole junior year I went to Willowbrook High and played on their hockey and soccer team. I got carried away in 70's party scene with plenty of school days spent at "THE WOODS",. I picked up the guitar inspired by David Gilmore of Pink Floyd as well as Led Zepplen and haven't put it down since. Senior year I went back to Proviso West and rejoined the team. I missed graduation with my class of 1977 only to graduate in January 1978, that' s the price you pay when you should be in school and your not.I worked a day job at Maywood Glass , drove limo's some nights and weekends and played in a band called LEDGEND. We played colleges , block parties (one for mayor Jane Byrne), clubs and our studio/party pad...Expand for more
. In Feb 1984, tired of the cold , I up and left to sunny Arizona. There I drove limo's and got a job selling cars where I worked for the next 14 years. I managed to work my way to become the Regional Finance Director of a very large automotive corporation.I had a very good offer for a position based out of Las Vegas so I transfered there. The auto industry paid for my extensive schooling and training including the flights to Georgia every three months. August of 2004 I retired from the industry and took off 8 months to rest and have fun traveling with my family.June 6th of 2005 will be 13 years married to my wonderful wife Brandi. We have two girls, Coriann who is 10 1/2 and Mandi 8 1/2. and are living a Leave it to Beaver/ Mayberry type life. In Feb. 2005 I began a new career as a bank rep. for a mortgage lender based out of California. As a account executive in the Las Vegas area I visit with mortgage brokeres to look at there files to see whice ones fit or programs then purchase them. There is freedom in this career as I make my own schedule and work out of my home office. Once a month I have a meeting in Burbank for the day, and of course reports to send every morning, but hey, every weekend off! I have never had that before. Life goes on , love to here from from anyone interested in contacting me. Take care
