Richard's Story
Life
What a challenge. How to sum up your life in a few paragraphs?
It's been a wild ride and I love every minute of it.
I went into the military after high school. Had a love/hate relationship with the Army. I lived in Okinawa for a couple of years (among other places) and had a great time. I met some great people, some of whom I am still in touch with. I tried surfing and sushi and wasn't particularly good at either. (although I love sushi now....go figure) I married and divorced my first wife. I also met my second wife. I got out of the Army after the end of Desert Storm (I served on the central coast of california). After I got out, I started working a crappy job in SoCal at a pharmacy.
I had my first son Jared in SoCal, but eventually took a job with a small software company in Ohio. I met some great people there, but ended up getting fired after a disagreement with the owner. I moved back to SoCal and divorced my second wife. I started a systems implementation company with my brother...Expand for more
. That's where I met my beloved. We had a few years of great success with our business, but had to close up shop when our customer's markets had a downturn. Both Brian and I joined Oracle and moved to Denver where my wife and I had three more adorable kids.
I am working for a great company and I work with great people. Travel a fair bit for the job(too much), but I enjoy it as well. I'm doing well at the job, still reaching for the brass ring.
I have a wonderful family with four great kids, from 14 years old to 18 months. We go on tremedous vacations and have a ton of fun together.
I scuba dive, camp, fish, ski, ride my harley, play guitar, dance with my wife (not often enough) and travel for fun.
When you add it all up, our lives have been blessed. I sometimes reflect on the decisions I've made, both good and bad. No matter how many times I look back, I keep coming back to the same thing. I wouldn't change a thing, because all my decisions have brought me to this place and to this time.
