Richard's Story

Life 4,000 characters and I dont know where to start, well here it goes: Since you are reading my BIO you should know me and therfore should contact me. Send me a message and I will write back, although I can not say how long that will take. So you want to know what I have been up to since graduation. In October of 1992 I transferred from the Army Reserves to active duty and was stationed at the United States Army Hospital in Berlin Germany (I was a Med. Lab. Tech.)for 2 years. In 1994 Berlin Brigade was drawn down, since Berlin was the Capital of Germany again and the cold war was basically won in 1989 when the wall fell. It was at this time that I would be transferred to Ft. Polk, La. for the last three years of my active service. At Ft. Polk I was stationd in the 115th Field Hospital with month long rotations working at the drug lab and the Ft.Polk Hospital Lab. In May of 1997 I received my Honourable Discharge from the Army. It was at this time that I decided to take a long well earned vacation from work. I spent a month visiting family and friends in California and then decided to visit my girlfriend in Berlin once again (we visited each other about every 6 months that I was at Ft. Polk). That was in 1997, now it is 2014, I am living in Berlin (that was one long vacation), I no longer have a girlfriend (we got married on March 20th 1998), and I have been working for the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, Germany since 2002, as the Residential Security Coordinator for the U.S. Mission in Germany. The job is great and has a lot of good perks (I sometimes get to meet people like Colin Powell and Etc. My wife Maren (Special Ed. Teacher) and I have been together since 1994 when I was stationed in Berlin (20 years). Things were tough for us when I was at Ft. Polk and we could only visit each other about every 6 months but it was worth it. We have two children Lara (9) and Ruben (6). Places I have been to and seen since Graduation: Germany (I live there), Austria and France (week-end trips), Danemark (...Expand for more
week-end Camping), Belgium (day trip), Mallorca and Menorca Spain (2 Week vacations, 1999 and 2007), Venezuala South America (2 week vacation 2001), Costa Rica Central America (2 1/2 week vacation 2003), Turkey (two week vacation 2004), Switzerland (1 week vacation 2010), Sweden (1 week 2012), Barcelona, Spain (weekend trip 2013), Sweden 2 1/2 week wilderness camping and canoeing trip 2014. I have not seen everthing I want to yet but I have had the chance to do and see a lot, from ancient ruins (Troy, Pergemon, Heropolis, Trier) and primary jungles to street bazzars and Mediterannien beaches. I have been to Pre-Columbian indian burial sites and seen the wonders of the Hagia Sophia (The Red Church), Topikia Palace and the tragidies of Galipoli and Sachsenhausen. I have been to 4 (N. America, S. America, Europe and Asia) of the 7 continents, my goal is to see them all. I have had the chance to meet and talk to, if only shortly the following well known people: Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Hillery and Bill Clinton, Kevin Costner, Barack and Michelle Obama, and Tom Cruise, along with a few other less know celebs and diginataries. Life is one great adventure so enjoy it AHS Falcons of 1990. "The road goes ever on." J.R.R. Tolkien Carpe Diem, seize the moment. Lastly, I might not have been one of the coolest or most popular kid at AHS but as you have read, I have seen and done many things in my life that most people only dream of doing. I hope that every one of us is able to keep dreaming and striving to achieve their dreams. Michelle Brooks, you once wrote in my graduating yearbook something not very nice, it goes something like this: "Maybe someday you might be cool like me instead of sitting around and doing nothing." Well as you can see I am keeping busy a doing amazing things. I would rather be successfull, well traveled, cultured and most of all happy with my life and acomplishments instead of "Cool". So I hope you are happy with your life Michelle, if not just stay "COOL".
