Richard's Story
Life
I graduated Hibbing High School in 1976, and spent 3 years in the military. I went to Chef training at the Hibbing Vo-Tech, and then attended and received my AAS Degree from the University of Minnesota, Crookston. I became a member of the American Culinary Federation in 1987, and received my national Certified Working Chef certification in 1989.
I worked as a chef in several hotels, restaurants, and health care facilities before returning to the military in 1985. While in the military I served in South Carolina, Korea, Louisiana, Germany, Sau...Expand for more
di Arabia, Iraq, and Hawaii. I left the military in 1992, and went to work as a Cook Supervisor at a federal prison in Bryan / College Station Texas, and later transferred to the Federal Correctional Complex at Terre Haute, Indiana as an Assistant Food Service Administrator in 1995.
I married my wife Rosie in the Philippines in August, 1986, and our daughter Kristal was born in Wiesbaden Germany in January, 1990. I am due to retire from the Bureau of Prisons in September, 2014 and I plan to move back to my childhood home in Hibbing at that time.
