Richard's Story
Since I graduated high school, I worked roughly a year, leaving Moody's Investor
Service, and in 1960, became an apprentice electrican with Local 3 IBEW. Became a Journeyman in 1966. In May of 1967 I was drafted to the Army, spent some time in Germany. I left Germany in Feb 1968 and went to Viet Nam with the 101st Airborne Divsion, just in time for the "Tet Offensive". I beleive that the 12 years I went the St. Helena's (Grammer & High School) and the 2 years I served in the military, molded me into what I am today. I left the Army a Sgt, and melded back into society. It wasn't easy, but I did it. ut we became serious, and in 1970 we were married. It's 40 years now and we have four great kids, I mean we are very lucky, our kids are terrific. Three boys and a girl. Our oldest (39) and my youngest (34) are bachelors. My daughter & son # 2 are married . I went back to work as an electrician, spent four year on the World Trade Center (1971-1975) spent 18 months working on the top three floors and the roof. View was priceless. When I left the WTC I wound up in Show Business Beginning in 1975 I was the electrical foreman at the NY Coliseum, until it closed in 1986, and opened the Jacob Javits Convention Center. I was also a foreman there until I retired in 2001. Now I work as a a starter at a golf course near by, and play lots of golf. Health is fine Life is good .
