Richard's Story
Life
I graduated from Odessa College in 1960 and immediately joined
the U.S. Army, which sent me to the Army Language School in Monterey, California, to learn Chinese. After two years of that, and then two years on Okinawa, I returned to the States, where I got a B.A. from Whittier College, graduate degrees from Univ. So. Calif. in 1967 and Harvard Graduate School in 1970. Got a J.D. from Harvard Law in 1973 and headed back to California with my new bride, the former Kathie Kirchhaine, who left the Ph....Expand for more
D. program in chemistry at Harvard for medical school. Kathie graduated from Stanford Medical School in 1978. We sprnt 42 years in Silicon Valley, retiring to central Florida in 2015.
We have two daughters. The older graduated from UCLA (summa cum laude) in 2004 and No. 1 in her MBA class at the Univ. of Louisville. The younger daughter finished up her M.A. in Middle Eastern history in Cairo and then earned her J.D. Both daughters married foreigners who are both lawyers. (I got started late.)
