Richard's Story
CHS, Panola College and Baylor University grad. Began newspaper career as sports editor and general assignments reporter at Sweetwater Reporter. Covered first high school football game for a daily newspaper in September 1959 and have spanned over half a century doing just that. Included are part-time stints at the Dallas Morning News, Dallas Times Herald and Tyler Morning Telegraph. I last covered a game for the Tyler daily during the 2011 season. Sold display advetising for the Houston Chronicle and Victoria Advocate in the 1960s. Established, published and owned several weekly newspapers in the 1960s and 1970s. Established a printing and graphics businness after that and retired to East Texas in 2000. Have two children that live in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the area I lived in for almost 40 years. Son Randy Taylor is a self-employed lighting designer and travels extensively, mostly in the continental United States. Daughter Kim Taylor Tomlinson is a housewife, mother and part-time Christian school worker. Kim works at the school where her kids and my grandchildren have ...Expand for more
and/or now attend. Zach is a freshman pre-med student at Baylor University, and Nick and Sara are high schoolers. Wife Lonelle is a native of Denver City, Texas. We have been married for almost 30 years. Lonelle is retired from hospital management and the insurance industry. We now operate a home-based business at Holly Lake Ranch, about 30 miles from Tyler and Longview. We trade stocks on the NYSE and, thanks to today's technology, can continue to trade while we travel. Hawaii, Alaska and the Pacific Northwest are our favorite spots. CHS classmate Kenneth Mangham lives a few hundred yards down the road from us and 1957 CHS grad Terry Shumate was also a neighbor until his untimely death last year. The Lord has richly blessed the Taylors. One of my greatest blessings was to be a Carthage teenager in the 1950s, which was maybe the zenith of our country's history. The next decade ushered in the decline that has brought the USA today to the brink of total destruction by godless, socialist and communist leaders. Please join us in praying for America's return to its former greatness.
