Richard's Story
Workplace
I was born in Kansas City, MO. in 1947. We moved to Texas in 1953 and I attended first grade at a church school as I was not elligible to go to public school yet. I then attended West Side Elementary and played baseball in my spare time. I grew up in the country south of Arlington and raised a horse. I attended Ousley Jr. High and Carter Jr. High schools. I continued to play baseball and was a successful pitcher. I attended Arlington High School and was in Vocational Agriculture in Jr. High and High School. I then attended Sam Houston High School which had just opened and was classified as a Junior. I played football and ran track and lettered in track. offered a full athletic scholarship to run track. I transferred to Texas Wesleyan University my second year of college and graduated with a double major; Psychology and Business. I worked in the steel industry because I had experience for a year and a half and then became an Adult Probation Officer for Tarrant County. I got married after college and have one son. I retired from Adult Probation after 25 yrs. service in 2000. I have worked as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor since retirement and I fly model airplanes in my spare time.
Military
I took basic training at Ft. Lewis Washington, AIT at Ft. McClellan Alabama. I was stationed in Camp Zama Japan and Okinawa. I then went to Ft. Ord California where I completed my military service.
