Richard's Story

Life Took the NROTC scholarship and ran to University of Minnesota eventually earning a BSBA. Was commissioned in the Navy in Jan 1977 where I remained until Apr 2005. Married in 1979 and still am. Have two kids: Daughter Katie a Spec Ed teacher with two kids, and Nick a a licensed first engineer in the merchant marine, soon to be a chief engineer. Living in San Diego Ca and loving it, no finer place to live. After the Navy I started to work for SAIC as a consultant to the Navy. I trainEd the staffs that take the carrier strike groups on deployment. Most of my carreer was on various staffs...Expand for more
and in training so its not much different from what I had been doing. Spend as much time as I can in the woods backpacking,snowshoeing, skiing ,generally getting away from the maddening crowds. Coming up in 40 yrs being married and 4yrs since singing "You can take this job and shove it". Only work one day a year now. Life is good. Military Got the Navy to pay for college and then spent the next 28 years doing their bidding. Lived in Monterey CA, Newport RI, Yokosuka and Sasebo JA (5 yrs), Oahu HI (4yrs), and San Diego CA. Was a Surface Warfare Officer (ship driver) Retired April 2005.
