Richard's Story
Some of you may be interested to know that, I have been retired for 9 months from the North Carolina Department of Correction (NCDOC) where I spent the past 20 years. I was the Director of the only Program in the NCDOC that serves inmates who carry a diagnosis of Mild Mental Retardation or Borderline Intellectual functioning.
After being divorced for 12 years, I remarried 9 months ago and we have returned from Wilmington, NC where I was working for the past 5 years, to my home in Weaverville, NC, just north of Asheville. My wife Nancy & I are currently debating if our home is big enough for two large egos (just kidding) as she is the newly elected Vice Presidednt of the Asheville Ski Club and I am the newly elected Vice President of our Mountain Corvair Club. obbies, and caring for Nancy's 2 Yorkshire Terriers and champion Rag Doll Cat and my 26 pound grey tabby cat and 2 sister calico cats. Nancy & I each have one son. We are very proud of them. Her son is married with two young children and works at a brokeragefirm. My son just completed his work for a Master's degree in theology at Notre dame and Political Science at Appalachian State University. He leaves aat the end of March, 2012 for Geneva, Switzerland where he will be working for the Vatican for three months, to complete his Internship for his Masters Degree in Political Science. He has been working in Boone, NC at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church as the Chief Music Minister for the past 5 years. His last day will be March 20.
