Rick's Story
My wife and I live on the ranch we started with my parents in the mountains of Western Oregon about thirty three years ago.
I am a father of five children and a grandfather of three, so far. The oldest is a college professor at Montana State University and is involved in research in biochemistry. The next oldest is graduated in computer networking and does computer work and management for the Wendy's Corp., the third oldest works for my company and is learning to run it and buying some of the stock. He is also going to assist managing the Costa Rican project. The fourth oldest, a son, just graduated at the University of Oregon and recieved degrees in Psychology and Economics. He is now in the job hunt market. The youngest daughter has been working in nursing and healthcare for seniors. Her husband is an early retired army helicopter pilot and is currently back in college. Both are now full time students at the University of Oregon.
I am the president of TechBuilt, Inc. in Sutherlin, Oregon. My company is a roof truss manufacturer and a wholesale building material supplier to contractors. We also export roof truss systems and builing materials to Japan. I started this company 21 years ago after earlier years in law enforcement, coaching high sch...Expand for more
ool football, and as a building contractor. I also still compete in the Scottish Highland Games, and of course, love to travel fish, and enjoy time with my family.
I am currently also working on my retirement project. A large ocean view home with suites for several guests at a time, overlooking the Pacific in Southern Costa Rica. I intend to have clients down for full service sportsfishing and tourism as well as lots of space to entertain friends and family, when not out fishing myself.
That's about all the news that's fit to print, as they say. Life has been a lot of work, but very rewarding and we are looking forward to many more good years as we slow down a little.
Update:
I have now sold my company. As soon as I have the new owners trained and up to speed on it all, we will spend a lot more time working on the project in Costa Rica. Our second son, the third oldest, has decided to live and work full time down there once we get it up and running. I am really looking forward to semi, anyway, retirement and lots of great sportsfishing. I caught eight sailfish my last trip down. What a wonderful time it was! Really looking forward to spending a lot more time in a different kind of paradise then the one we have been blessed to live in here.
