Rick's Story

Life My life can be considered a success with many challenges along the way. I am married to Danielle and we own a home in Eagle Rock, California, we were married on my birthday May 14 1994. I have 6 kids from three moms, and four grandchildren My oldest is Rachael (26) she is married and has a daughter, Maya 2, and a son Jack 8 months with Ryan her husband they live near Santa Cruz. Rachael has her Bachelors degree from the University of Santa Cruz. She graduated in June of 2006. She is happy being a mom for now with plans to get her doctorate in marriage and family psychology. Next is Rebecca (24) she has two sons named Derrick (6) and Darius (1), she lives in Palm Springs. Number three is Richard (22) who is making his way through life, he shares an apartment with a friend in Eagle Rock. These are from the first mom, Rosemary who I married in 1981, we divorced in 1988. Alyssa (19) is in her first years in college near home, she lives with her mom, Tamara and step dad in Rubadeax which is part of Riverside (second mom who I did not marry). William (10) is a highly gifted boy he is in the gate program at his school, and Zane (8) is full of energy and very athletic; add a “y” to his name and that explains it all. They both attend Eagle Rock Elementary. Danielle is their mom. My mom and dad still live in the same house on Groverdale off of Lark Ellen in Covina near the high school. ve taken her back home to live with them. It is not an easy situation but they take it one day at a time. I co-own a successful fitness business that is called The Dynamic Advantage. Our home base is a fitness training studio in Eagle Rock, California. Yes I live a half mile from where I work and can walk from my studio to William and Zane’s school in less than five minutes. I have been in the fitness industry as a personal Trainer and business owner since 1993. Before fitness I worked in the aerospace industry. I worked for 12 years at a company called Librascope in Glendale California. I started there as a janitor and worked my way up through the union in mechanical assembly and quality control in the first six years. I then moved to the management side as a quality control engineer for two years and spent my last 4 years there as a mechanical designer. I was laid off in 1992. Prior to that I worked as a waiter in Arcadia; in a warehouse in San Dimas; and a small tool and die company on Azusa Avenue. This of course was all after PUP ‘N’ TACO, lol. After Gladstone High I went to Citrus College majoring in Art and getting involved in student government. I also went to Art Center College of design in Pasadena but I did not finish my bachelor’s degree. I consider my education an on going process that does not follow traditional forms. Understanding of the body continues to grow so in order to be on the leading edge in my profession I must attend seminars and workshops that advance my knowledge. As a business owner I must continue to learn new ways to attract customers so I attend many business learning and development workshops as well.
