More about Rick:"Rick Couto / Drums and Percussion “Uncontainable” perfectly describes the musical genre that Rick Couto fits into. From jazz to rock, from the studio to the stage, from the drum kit to the congas, Rick has spent the past 45 years doing what he loves. Rick is part of a multi-generational drumming family. His father was a noted and well-regarded professional jazz drummer, and Rick’s son, Max, has taken up the sticks as well, currently enjoying an active performance schedule in the local Rhode Island music scene. main a fixture on the local music scene since 1974! As a percussionist, Rick provided the tasty rhythm for Soul Power, an 11-piece hard driving soul-funk machine, and for “Mr. Dynamite,” the electrifying James Brown tribute show. Currently, he’s the driving force behind Mark Cutler and the Men of Great Courage. Long before the “world music” genre existed, Rick was one of six members of The LaMoia Percussion Ensemble, a risky, exciting and groundbreaking group. On the jazz side, Rick has played percussion and recorded with the critically acclaimed Joe Parillo Ensemble. He is currently on drums with Mike Tanaka & Friends, as well as the A&C Trio. Along with all of that Rick still finds the time to occasionally perform with the renowned Boston vocalist Drew Sullivan. As a studio drummer, Rick has recorded with a varied roster of musicians, including singer/songwriters Ed Rashed, Rob Raroux, and Mark Cutler, whose CD Red has attracted national acclaim. His colorful percussion has been recorded with New Age electronic music composer Jonn Serrie. Keyboardist Dick Reed has also employed his talents on his recording projects. Rick gets to show off both his rock and swing chops as the drummer for the newly formed Tom Keegan and Mojo Mission, relishing in Keegan’s great original songs. And if you’re counting, that’s two rock bands and two jazz bands that Rick is a part of, at last count. Only someone who loves percussion could pull it off.".
