Rick's Story
Grew up Army. Went from Ft. Campbell HS to Northwest HS in 72. From Northwest Class of 74 to US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. Graduated USAFA Class of 78 with a BS in Civil Engineering, then on to pilot training in Texas for fighters/attack/recon, where I almost bought the farm, broke my back in five places, was medically retired, and sent home in a wheelchair.
Was hired in the Dept. of Energy's Oak Ridge Operations as a Production Planning Engineer in 81, then manager of Nuclear Materials Control and Accountability at their Paducah Uranium Enrichment plant in 84. Quit in 87 to start my own publishing company in the travel biz. Was named Disabled American of the Year by Prez Bush Sr. in 91 and have been giving speeches and consultations all over the world ever since (blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada, and w...Expand for more
oo hoo for fame). Sold my company in 2000, retired in full, and started doing short-term missions with two, super, international networks in the God-biz.
More history: Married my Ft. Campbell sweetheart in 82, son born in Paducah in 85, and daughter born in Clarksville in 89. Divorce was finalized in 2004. Been flying solo ever since. My son and his wife are both doctors on the east coast. My daughter is a Sewanee grad and working in the environmental biz on the west coast.
Now: I still remain the same Rick. Unpretentious. Laid-back. Independent. Mild, not wild. Sweet and kind, but very strong inside. Honest and loyal. Quiet. Big on principles, morals, and God. Love family, love friends, good food, good wine, good conversation, and laughter. Often.
I'm easy to find on Facebook and several of us Norwesters hang there.
