Rick's Story
I was a Crespi High School student from 1963 to 1967. Not much a student during those years, to say the least! I graduated in 1967. I loved almost every minute of Crespi Life. I then played BBall and ran track at Pierce College 1968-70. Attended Whittier College on Athletic Schlarship 1970-1973. Played Basketball and ran Track for Whittier College from 1970 to 1973. I was a starter on the team from 1970 to 1973. Turned into a student and was on the Dean's List for 3 years at Whittier...Go Figure? Graduated 1973. Worked at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, CA and became an LA Paramedic in '72, attended Graduate School at Whittier College and Cal State Long Beach. Accepted to the second class of PA (Physician Assistant's) at USC. Attended USC School of Medicine PA Program from 1974 to 1976. Graduated with a Masters in Medicine and Public Health in 1977. t LAC USC Medical Center, I became a practicing PA in 1977-78 and practiced in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine at Hospitals and Medical Groups in LA and Orange Counties of CA until I retired in 2007. Moved out of LA to the Pacific Northwest in 2007. Now live in Coeur D'Alene/Post Falls, Idaho and work as an Emergency Room PA at Spokane Valley Hospital in Spokane, WA. Just 10 miles across the border of Idaho into Washington State. Married (wife Jennifer with 2 daughters (Stephanie and Haley). Work about 3/4 time and travel to CA 3-4 times a year since 2007 to visit family, friends and USC School of Medicine PA Program where I am an Admissions Comittee Member of USC School of Medicine PA Program since 2006. Still in touch with some Crespi alumni (Frank Enterante, Rod Sokoloski, Rick Dempsey). Some of the best memories of my life surround that little high school in Encino, California.
