Rick's Story

I'm having a ball at 51. I hope all you other class of '78ers are too. I recieved a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders form UCA in 1983 and finished my M.S. in Commuinication Sciences and Disorders from Radford University in Radford Virginia in 1991. I completed my Clinical Fellowship Year in 1992 achieving my Certificate of Clinical Competence making me a Speech/Language Pathologist. It's hard to believe I've been doing this for 25 years. While living in Virginia, I met my wife, Beth, in 1985 and we were married in 1987. My son, Jared, was born in 1994. We got a late start so while most of you are now grandparents I'm still experiencing having a son in High School. Sad notes include my grandfather dying in January of 1996 followed by the death of my father in February 1996. That's a dark year I'd rather forget. Grandmother past in 1999. My mother is still living in the home you may remember in Heber. We've gone to countless little league baseball and football games and middle school football games. Now we have seen him play football as a freshman and are looking forward to seeing him play high school baseball as well. My wife is a Teacher of the Visually Impaired as well as a preschool intake coordinator for the Greater Clark County School District in Clark County Indiana. We live in Charlestown, IN which is about the size of Heber. We live on six acres that back up to 400 acres of natur...Expand for more
e reserve allowing me to have lots of opportunities to do what I like best (hunting and hiking). I'm in private practice working with at risk birth to three year old children. If you are interested in what I do, you can find me on the First Steps of Indiana Direct Service Provider Matrix. I also provide coverage on an as needed basis for Clark Memorial Hospital performing speech therapy evaluation and treatment as well as bedside and videoflouroscopic swallow studies. In addition to hiking and hunting deer and turkey, I enjoy riding my Yamaha 1100 V-Star Classic. I really wanted to get a Harley but my wife countered that she would get a Mercedes if I did. She didn't get her Mercedes and the rest is history. I took a round trip ride to Heber in June of 2009 over the course of four days to see my mother as well as my brother and his son who was paralized from a diving accident in March of that year. I couldn't get comfortable sitting or laying down for several days after I got back. I hope to space it out more the next time I try it. It's now April of 2011 and you are now caught up minus billions of other moments since High School. I'm getting excited about the upcoming Turkey season. I got a pounder last year and several more are hanging around the backyard this year. I hope your lives have been productive and blessed by Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. If not, I know it can be.
