Rick's Story
Life
I wake up every day happy that a new day is starting. I'm not sure why, but that is the way I am. After High School I went to UT in Austin and earned a BS Chemical Engineering, then moved out to Phoenix for 10 years and worked on the space program at one of the satellite equipment manufacturers, then moved to Wash DC for 3.5 years and worked as a consultant to the US EPA and the World Bank, going to different 3rd world countries and helping them to stop using environmentally hazardous chemicals. What a mess! After that moved back to Austin where I am now, and I've been here for about 10 years, and I really don't plan to move.
I'm involved in "civic" things around Austin, as the Pres of our Homeowners Association and involved in some Neighborhood Planning and Zoning work around our part of town (southwest Austin). Go out to eat a lot and drink good wine; listen to music on occasion.

e were left wondering where al the money went for us to stand around in a horse racing track. So, there is a small group of us that has put together (with Jason's blessing) the 30th Reunion at the Westin Oaks at the Galleria on July 19th, 2008. Everyone needs to sign up and register; I think its about $65 per person, and will include major appetizers, music, and we're putting together a special PowerPoint presentation (Then and Now). There are some big surprizes. Go to reunionteam. com for registration rperkins at austin. rr. com I'm in Austin! 512-426-5728

College
Studied Chemical Engineering for 5 years ... first few were tough as I was still in the High School graduation party mode! But I calmed down so that by the 4th year (it took five) I was making A's and B's in my engineering classes. I do recall many Saturday nights sitting at home or with friends working on engineering problems, drinking beer. It wasn't all that much fun, but I very much appreciate the art of engineering.
