Rick's Story
Since graduation I spent a career in law enforcement and retired in 2001 from the Orange County Sheriff's Office where I had attained the rank of Undersheriff or second-in-command. In 1977 I was shot on duty while saving the life of a deputy sheriff. A bulletproof vest saved my life as I was struck three times in the arm and chest. I was awarded the Medal of Valor and Purple Heart for my actions. After retirement I went into private security and was part of the opening team at Gaylord Palms Resort a large resort near Orlando. Following that I was the security director for Isleworth a private gated community of Fortune 500 executives and professional sport players. In 2004 I ran for Orange County Sheriff against a 12 year incumbent and almost beat him despite him outspending me 7 to 1. In 2005 I became the Chief Security Officer and Sr. VP for the Ginn Company ...Expand for more
