Rick's Story
Life
I was married for 31 years to a wonderful woman who sadly died this year from complications of a bone-marrow transplant. We have two grown children who are happy but no grandchildren-yet!April 2002,I have a new person in my life, she is a special education teacher with four grown children-it's good to be happy again!!!
Feb 2008, it has been a tough year. In July 2007 my son Kevin,29, was diagnosed with lung cancer. He has never smoked. He has just completed chemo and doing well. On Dec 4th,2007 I buried my best friend, the next morning I suffered multiple heart attacks and had bypass surgery,I am doing "ok". Cathy and we hope to retire and marry this summer. The above picture is from Cape Cod where we have a summer home. Good luck to all who read this-take care.
Update; My son Kevin died at age 31 four days after his marriage to the girl of his dreams(May 2009). His fight against our deadliest cancer(lung) was valiant. He was honored in a PBS special "Breath of Hope" and by many news shows on "The Boston Channel" ch. 5 ABC. His wife-Stephanie is on many billboards in the Boston area(Oct-Nov 2011) holding their picture from their ...Expand for more
wedding. Cathy was diag. with stage ! breast cancer and after a lumpectomy-chemo and radiation is on her way to recovery. I urge everyone to support those who are doing real research into stopping these diseases. Because of what happened to her husband( my son Kevin) Stephanie went back to school and became a RN. She is now an Oncology nurse in Seattle, helping others because of what she and Kevin went through. Cathy now has stage four bone cancer we are doing our best to get her through this deadly disease."God Bless All of You" Cathy is now fighting bone cancer. Her latest chemo is working. Please pray for all who are fighting cancer. On Nov. 1 I lost Cathy due too the bone cancer she had after the breast cancer. I am loosing all my faith in God. We have lost to many beautiful and wonderful people to these diseases. It seems that all of our prayers go no place.
I have not given up, in 2017 I met Diana also a widower and we have found some happiness together. With our summer home on the ocean in Narragansett RI and our winter home in Holday Fl. we are enjoying our grandchildren. Please never give up, we have too much to be thankful for.
