Rickey's Story
After high school I received by Bachlors Degree from the University of Santa Clara and was a member of the University Debating team. This is where I met my wife, Karen. I then graduated from the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law in 1977 with my J.D. I worked representing youths in the California Youth Authority, then worked for the Sacramento County District Attorney in consumer fraud and then was offered a job with a civil litigation firm here in Merced, CA. I now have four partners in the same firm.
In 2005 I was selected by my fellow attorneys as being in the the top 5% of the practicing attorneys in Northern California in the area of consumer litigation. I have tried over 100 jury trials over the last 30 years.
I have two sons. My oldest, Ryan, graduated from University of California San Diego with a degree in Bio-Physics attended UCLA's School of Denistry and is now working on his Board Certification in Prosthadontics while working in a residency program at the Veterans Hospital in Los Angeles. My youngest, Matt, was on a life's quest to find himself but has now returned to college h...Expand for more
oping to work in the area of criminal justice. I coached both boys baseball team to the "Pony" division city championship in 1995. They are now 27 and 28.
My wife is now retired from the Title Insurance industry where she was the manager of a local Title company and she now plays allot of Bridge with her friends and is active in a Gourmet Cooking Group.
I am an active member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, the American Association for Justice, and am a Past President of the Merced County Bar Association. My main area of law is civil litigation, primarily personal injury on the side of the injured consumer.
My escape from work has been travel, golf and scuba diving, but the scuba diving has significantly been reduced as I have grown to dislike cold water diving and can go to warm water only once in a long while.
I belong to the Scottish Rite and am a Past Master of the Merced Masonic Lodge. I was active as the president of the Citizens Advisory Committee to the Merced City Schools but ceased after my sons graduated from high school. I have one grandson and am still waiting for a grand-daughter.
