Rio's Story

2-10-2010 Single after spending quite a few years with a man. I am comfortable with it after four years of being without Mike. Abbey turns 16 and Kali turns 20 this year. I ask: where did the time go???? UPDATE AGAIN: As for turning 39 ... I like it! I finally rounded a corner and arrived in a good spot. Mike will forever be missed. Life will move on and I have found acceptance and peace. I am really not sure of what choices I will make in the future, but I know I can always change my mind. Life is a one day at a time kinda deal. Make the best of it and for me ... I just need to keep moving on. UPDATE: In a few days I will be 39 so does this mean I graduate to being nearly 40 and no longer my MID 30's? I have one daughter that just finished her first year of college and another that just completed her first year of HS! The girls are doing well. I work at the local library now and love my new job ... though it will be two years in September! Life has been tough .. but I am doing well. Just can't believe that time that has passed and the realization of how far we have come as a family after reading the older portion of this profile. Yeah for us!!! Life Life bio ... hmmm ... life hasn't taken me where I thought I would be in my mid 30's. However, we learn and grow through the hard times so by now I'm pretty well mature. :) I was married in 93 to a military hunk. If you remember me at all, my family was military way back when. He married into instant family as I had a child when I was 19 (I was almost 20). She has been a true blessing ... no regrets! We had our second child soon after as I was ready to be a mommy and do it the 'right' way. So now, the girls are 15 and 11. I have one in high school ... hard to believe. When I was 29 I decided that being over 200 pounds wasn't going to happen when I celebrated my 30th birthday so I went on a diet. I lost at least 12 pounds a week, and soon after discovered something was very wrong. Months later and several pounds shed I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. I fought it for two years and then in an attmept to survive I opted for surgery. They remove...Expand for more
d my rectum and my colon, so now I have an ileostomy. Life is good and I am in the best shape ever. Three years of trying to survive, even after the major surgery and wham. My husband was diagnosed with cancer, Multiple Myeloma to be exact. He contiues to fight it and this is a cancer that is not curable. It would be safe to say that our girls have had to grow up quicker than the average child. Life for us is different than most. The day the doctor said, "you have cancer" changed us forever. I don't think that life will ever be without fear of when the next shoe drops. However, we have met wonderful people along the way. I still stand here and say that if it has to be a family then I'd rather it be us than you. Do I like it? NO ... but it's not fair and as tough as it is I ache to see others fight the same sort of battles. That is my take on life. It is what it is. You take the good and the bad and keep on keeping on. Michael passed away December 8, 2005 at home with his family by his side. He is missed terribly. He was a man above all men. School If I could do it all over, would I? Only if you could guarantee me that I would know then, what I know now. :0) I would change view on life, definately. I never would have taken French. I would have had never taken any relationships with the 'boys' serious. I would have been more diligent with my school work. I think that the majority viewed me as a 'snot', but I was so painfully shy and unhappy living in Ohio. Being military we left Ohio after elementary and moved to Arizona. Then after really falling in love with my life in Arizona and yearning to be with those who knew me well ... we ended back in Huber Heights where I was known, but yet different from everyone. It has formed the way I view the life my children will live. I won't move them away for any reason. I choose private schools vs. public schools. Until High School at least. It created me and for this I have no regrets. However, I would have gone to my senior prom. I would have found the most dazzling dress and walked into that prom like I was a princess. Will my girls do that? You Betcha' :0)
