Rita's Story
Moved to Elizabethtown, Kentucky at the beginning of the year. Yes, it's a small town with small town values and I stick out like a sore thumb. But I work for the Army Accessions Command on Fort Knox as a Business Analyst so it's convenient. After a seven year relationship, I'm newly single again and dating a wonderful Louisvillian gentleman with an accent like Shelby Foote. The men here are incredibly polite. They may be republicans, but they will ALWAYS treat a lady well.
I love my house and my stuff (thanks to G. Carlin) and I do enjoy living here on the buckle of the bible belt. I think I'm the only Jewish person in town. There's an Islamic center so there are plenty of muslims, but no Jews to speak of. Big time pastimes here are cornholin' (no, it's not what you think), fishin', huntin', golfin', NASCAR watchin', tobacco smokin', meth lab cookin', moonshinin', bluegrassin', and grillin' mystery meat.

ft southern California, you really should spend some time in flyover country to get a sense of what people are really like. When I visit California I just get this overwhelming sensation of it being another country altogether. There may be lots of people in LA county, but the people who work and grow food and build things are all in places like Kentucky. You dismiss them at your peril, because if you get them riled up they can change the world.
Oh, by the way, there are bucketwads of stupid people living here too, thanks to the Commonwealth's miserable educational system. My favorite: the guy who didn't have a trailer hitch, so he attached his trawler to his pick-em-up truck with duct tape. Hey, if you use enough, it's gotta work, right? Sheesh...
I hope I'm remembered for my sense of humor and my loyalty to my friends. I kinda liked high school. If I only knew then what I knew now... I would have gone on to engineering school.
