Rita's Story
Life
I recently lost my husband due to complications of diabetes from exposure to Agent Orange while in Viet Nam. I have a website where I am trying to sell items and services and have pledged to donate 10% of anything sold to the 3/5 Black Knights, a non-profit organization who in turn uses the money to help other Vets (not just Viet Nam) with needs that the VA does not provide. Unfortunately Classmates won't let me show it here.
Workplace
After DeKalb Tech, I went to work for Ga. Telco Credit Union. Worked there Sept-66/March-67, at which time I went to work for FNMA. Worked there until Aug-69, at which time I went to work for Hansell,Post,Brandon & Dorsey, attys. Worked there until Aug-70, at which time I went to Levine, D'Alessio & Cohn, Attys. Was there until May-85, at which time I went to work for Hancock,Dunn & Shuping, attys. Was there until Nov-89, at which time I went with Bray, Hancock & Cook, attys. Was there until May-91, at which time I went back to Shuping & Morse. Was there until Jan-96, at which time I tried my hand a "originating" loans with a mtg broker - BAD IDEA. 96 I went back with Levine & D'Alessio, under new ownership. Was there until May-2003, at which time I decided to work at home for a mortgage company 3 days a week for the same pay and benefits I had working for attorneys. Good idea. It allowed me to be home with my husband and our "PeePee", 70# "baby" Chow/Lab mix. My husband died April, 2004. Left the mortgage company in April 2005 to work for The Webster Firm - real estate attorneys. Worked there until September 2006, at which time I went back to Shuping, Morse & Ross in their title dept. I am hoping to retire by the end of the year and possibly moved to Tennessee with my daughter and her husband and our 10 cats and 2 dogs.
I finally retired August 29, 2008, and did move to Tennessee with my daughter, her husband, and our 10 cats and 2 dogs. I am loving it.
3/11/2009 - have since lost 1 cat (early fall) and my faithful "big black dog", Sissy (just before Thanksgiving 2008). She would have 14 years old January 2009. Gave up one cat.
P. S. the "now" picture is of me and my husband, Allen, when we got married April 1968 (Easter holiday)
