Rita's Story

Life Got married to Allen Pomerance on Valentine's Day 1971 who worked at Globe Engineering til 1988 and then at A.Epstein & Sons from 1988 to Present. We had G-B twins, Fran and Marc, in Jan. 1975. Just retired from teaching for the Chicago Public Schools on Oct 31, 2005! Would love to hear from all old friends and even former enemies. We are getting too old to hold grudges...LOL!! And LET'S DO THAT MULTI-YEAR (1955-1966) HB STOWE Grammar School REUNION!! I would love to hear from people I knew and remember the 'good ol' times' Also am looking for the students I had contact with and find out how they are doing now. It's such a blast to see you kids grow! School My school biography... started Lawson in Chicago when I went to Kindergarten and then transferred to HB Stowe second semester of first grade. How I hated leaving my best friend! But made friends at Stowe and graduated from there. Boy, I want to have an old neighborhood reunion as we went to so many different high schools after graduation. Anyone know what happened to Alan Salerno, Michael Shoback, or Joe Parisi??? I went to Kelvyn Park where the fabulous Michael Gross was in my division. I remember fondly Allan Sund, Paul Malbranch, Lynn Guttman, Richard Upton, and Don Wilson, also....Expand for more
But moved and transferred to Von Steuben High School after my sophmore year and graduated from there. Met great friends there and we still keep in touch and go out together. College Ah, memories of U. of I. at Chicago Circle...Glorified high school as we all commuted during those days. Met some great freinds there. Sandy(Kaplan)Strauss, Ellen(Sklair) Medow still keep in touch. Others would love to hear from...especially those of us who continued with the pilot Sp. Ed. classes after graduation!! Workplace What do I say about the workplace...Chicago Public Schools for over 30 years?? First long term job was Bateman School where I taught 3rd grade before I had my own kids. Many great memories and am so glad we still meet for lunches at Olive Garden in Lincolnwood. Then subbed for ten years while the kids were growing up and got into Wm.P.GRAY for the next 21+ years. Just retired from there!!! Military No military experience for me, tho I remember Chris Wickel was in the Waves? I think. Days of the draft and worrying about our boys...tho no one went into the army except Len Olson that I remember. I remember one of my male friends took a job teaching lst graders to stay out of the draft and almost had a nervous breakdown from the little kids.
