Life After graduating from Enka in 1969, I attended Brevard College for one year where I met my future husband. We married the following year and a year later my daughter Rhonda was born. My husband had enlisted in the Air Force before we married and stationed in Charleston, SC right after we married. Rhonda was born in Charleston. My husband was sent to Thailand after 4 years and I remained in Charleston and enlisted in the Air Force also. Upon entering the service my parents kept my daughter during my basic training. After finishing basic at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, I was stationed on the same base to work as a Medical Administrative Assistant at the medical center on base, Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. Not long after my husband & I divorced. I spent 4 wonderful years in the Air Force meeting loads of friends and learning about Texas. Rhonda & I would spend weekends at the rivers, lakes or nearby swimming pool. We went to Padre Island with some of my buddies for the beach and we also went on tubing trips down the Guadalupe River. My work experience was great, learning the skills of clerical work in a hospital. I did 4 different jobs during my service years. I did correspondence which was processing requests for information and processed charts. I also worked on the pulmonary floor as a ward clerk, and in Biometrics in which I was responsible for recording workload statistics. I had some great friends, dated some while there but only had one major boyfriend. Our relationship ended when I left the Air Force after 4 years and moved back to NC.
