Rob's Story
Life
Greetings to former classmates, old friends, etc.
I currently live in Kansas City, Mo. Music is still an integral part of my life though not as much right now as it has been in the past. Still, I am organist for two churches, both in Kansas City's Northland. I play weekly at both Hillside Christian Church and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. I hope in the near future to begin establishing a studio for students and becoming more involved with the classical music scene here in Kansas City.
In recent years my focus has been on a new and somewhat of a "Suprise" career in the Auto industry. I am in management, working for a company called CEVA logistics, which is a third party logistics provider to Ford's Kansas City Assembly, in Claycomo, Mo. CEVA is the second largest logistics company in the World with operations everywhere. A personal goal of mine is to learn Portugese in order to be able to work in Bazil for a while. Something of an adventure, I would hope.
I received my Bachellors and Masters degree in Music Performance from Pittsburg State in 93 and 98. In between, I worked on a Masters degree in Historical Performance at Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Oberlin, Ohio. Ultimitely I decided to opt for what is called an Artists diploma instead so that I might spend more time focusing directly on performing rather ...Expand for more
than acedemics. None-the-less, my Oberlin experience was both challenging and rewarding. Living near Cleveland, Oh. was also a new and enriching experience. Though a "dirty" old industrial city, Cleveland possesed a certain charm and history that was unique and endearing.
After moving to Pittsburg in 97, I met my former partner, Max. The two of us were together almost seven years and though we are no longer together, I don't regret the time with which God blessed us.
Three of the seven years we were together were spent living in Washington, DC. Those were exciting times for me both personally and professionaly. I worked for the Wall Street Journal, (Dow Jones and Company), part time which was awesome in and of itself.
The rest of my time was spent in Church music, my piano teaching studio on Capitol Hill in historic St. Mark's Episcopal Church and performing live concerts at St. Marks as a part of their yearly music series. I also tried my hand at teaching in the public schools. That was certainly interesting......
That about sums it up, though as I write about that stuff, it certainly brings to mind all the water under the bridge so far. Drop me a note sometime if you'd like to catch up.
I wish all of you and yours the very best!! Maybe we'll meet up at a renuion sometime soon.
Take care and God Bless!
